“Identity is the unique, integral, evolving experience of an individual that defines their values. Supporting the identities of our community members is fundamental to sustaining and building relationships that bring value to our lives. As such, I'm excited to support this raffle benefiting the LGBTQ+ legal fund”.

Creative Director, Photographer, and Stylist
Storm is a fourth year student at SPU majoring in Social Justice/Cultural studies with minors in Apparel Design/Merchandising and Psychology. As a creative, their work centers around the feelings of escapism and surrealism. They choose to navigate the universe through a colorful and imaginative lens because they believe this strongly reflects their multifaceted identity as a queer person of color. This perspective is highly reflected in the dreamy euphoric editing style that is consistently depicted throughout their work as a photographer.
“Identity to me is intersectional. It encompasses all the aspects of a human being from the personality to the mind to social status, race, and gender. Identity is heavily nuanced and every person has a unique and individual reflection of themselves. As such, it is imperative that cultures are cultivated with an openness to experience where all identities, especially marginalized identities are celebrated and liberated”.

Actor, Director, Filmmaker
Giao Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American actor, director, and award-winning filmmaker based in Seattle. Specializing in short & long form narrative video and stage performance, his artistic compass combines visceral dialogue with heightened images that immerses audiences into the story at hand. Giao is an alum of Seattle Pacific University.
“It always interesting to me what factors in life that people lay claim to, what defining moments or titles or creatures that make us who we are. However, the pursuit of identity to me has always been a fierce flame where I'm constantly learning and growing from everything around me. Nothing should stay the same, we are always changing and growing out of our shells. And I hope I never quite become that version of myself in the end, for there is always room for becoming.”

Wood Burner & Comedian
Hi there!! I am an SPU alumni of the class of 2021. I have lived in Seattle for about 5 years. Since graduating, I have been enjoying life: doing stand up comedy, wood burning, taking care of myself, and really enjoying the city. I feel so honored to be a part of this raffle and THANK YOU FOR DONATING TO AN AMAZING CAUSE!
“Identity means everything. Who I am is who I am. The parts of me that I love (being mixed, being queer, etc.) are the lenses I see the world through. To be accepted for who I am has saved my life because I love who I am. I wouldn’t change a thing. Institutions that clearly demonstrate disdain and exclusion for those who are bold enough to know and accept themselves are a risk to all people.”
Keeks’ Instagram: @thatkeekstho
“Once you win (woohoo), we can start collaborating on the design you would like for your wood burning. Once we finalize a design, it will take me roughly a week to complete the order (depending on the other pieces I am working on). If you are in Seattle, I am happy to plan a drop off. If you are out of Seattle, we will get your shipping address and I will send you the tracking number. Excited to work with you! :)” - Keeks
Empowerment and Boudoir Photographer
Amy Paine (SPU album 2014) is an empowerment photographer for every body with a studio in Seattle. If you look in the mirror and see all the ways you’re not enough, her team knows how that feels and will help you reconnect with your inner confidence and power. Amy believes you don’t need to change who you are to be worthy of being photographed—show up wherever you’re at in life; no matter your age, pant size, or latest milestone. You deserve to be celebrated in all seasons. View more of Amy’s work at www.amypaine.com
“Forces of societal pressures, oppressions and norms want to keep us in these narrow, tiny boxes so that everyone else feels more comfortable. All the while, we dim down who we are, suffocating and struggling, believing the lie that we are never enough (or TOO much). We know ourselves better than anyone on the entire planet. We know our own traumas, our insecurities, our values, our memories and all of the things that make us who we are. Identity is a constant evolutionary journey of learning, accepting and embracing every piece of our unique selves.”
Amy’s Instagram: @amypainephoto
The photo session will take place at Amy Paine's Seattle studio near the Space Needle. Amy encourages you to show up as you are, with no makeup, no hair styling, and everyday clothing. She will capture your portrait and the details of your body while you have connected conversations about what you love about yourself and what you struggle with. Session will take place on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 12-3pm. A 15-image gallery of digital files is included, and will be selected during a same-day photo reveal after your session. These images are delivered in black and white and no skin retouching will be offered. (Value $900)

“Identity is what you are when you are stretched out authentically. The identity of each LGBTQ+ student at SPU is sacred and celebrated by me. It is important that students have the space to safely and truthfully cultivate who they are and discover who they are becoming. It is a privilege to be contributing art to help support the SPU LGBTQ+ Fund”.

Artist/Photographer
Rubin Quarcoopome loves a good story. From his childhood days in Ghana hearing his father's tales of Anansi to his adolescence in Detroit absorbing anime and movies, the allure of stories helps him understand the world. Through photography and digital painting, Rubin relishes the afrosurrealist, finding ways to make the ordinary weird, and the weird ordinary. His work focuses on Black stories and opening doors for others in the BIPOC community to thrive. His work has been featured at the Bellevue Arts Museum and the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, and published in Blank Space's Fairy Tales and Mob Journal. See more of Rubin’s work at odaodadesign.com
“Much of my work shows visual vignettes of Black folks thriving, with each image a glimpse of a small narrative. I am as eternally interested in the themes of Black masculinity, femininity, confidence, and vulnerability as I am in the metatextual elements of creating a photograph. All of these elements form an identity to me. It’s this blend of lived experiences, self-expression, and inner nature that makes people so idiosyncratic and beautiful. And one's identity, however it may be expressed, should never be discriminated against”.

Photoshoot to occur in early 2023. Exact time and location TBD. Model release and photoshoot contract to be signed before photoshoot. Model(s) to provide own wardrobe, makeup, and props for concept, as needed. Photographer open to helping shape or direct concept, if requested. Photos to be edited and returned within 3 weeks of photoshoot.

“Identity is intimately human. It is a means to understand; to define and distinguish; to unify and empower; to know and to be known. Identity is belonging. For me, it’s also spiritually bound. My time at SPU engaged my sense of identity with a beautifully queer God and I am heartbroken by the way the University has chosen to abandon its community. Please consider donating to the Legal Fund to hold the BoT accountable for their actions”.

I’m a wedding and portrait photographer based out of Seattle, traveling all over! I think there is something really special and important about capturing ourselves exactly as we are in different eras of our lives. I focus on creating real raw emotions and focus on how to capture a person as authentically as I can. View more of Sarah’s work at www.sokophotography.com
"Identity to me is how you make other people feel, how you show up in the world, how you act on the things you say. It’s also in the not so constant things like how you like to dress, what kind of music you like, your favorite show etc. I think as humans, we’re incredibly complex and intricate beings and we shine brightest when we are in a space where we can express ourselves freely & openly”.

Visual Development and Comic Artist
Hi I’m Meg, a visual development and comic artist who loves bold colors and all things fantasy and sci-fi. I graduated from SPU in Spring 2022 with a Bachelors of Arts in Illustration. In my spare time I binge watch cartoons and nature documentaries, play board games with friends and family, and trade graphic novels with anyone who loves to read. I create stories centered around people in the process of discovery—whether of themselves or the world around them—and love to push the boundaries between writing, comics, and animation. “I’ve always loved making portraits and drawing people because it encourages me to more deeply consider what makes each person unique, what really makes someone themselves. Art can emphasize under-appreciated qualities and the intricacies of personal identity. Certain members on SPU’s Board of Trustees have taken it upon themselves to try and silence the LGBTQIA+ community in the name of religious freedom. As a Christian, I believe that ostracizing those who don’t fit a confining form of identity is not how God has called us to love people. Supporting SPU’s LGBTQ+ legal fund is a vital step in changing University policy to authentically reflect the student body”.

“Being in alignment with your identity feels like peace. It feels warm and true, and you just know it. Spaces, people, organizations that demand us to come differently are asking for our peace; asking for us to betray our own bodies and our own knowing. Identity—our true identities—can feel lost (and institutions would benefit from our believing that) but they always be found when we follow peace, warmth, and truth. I want to support those in the SPU community who are doing just that”.
